(PPL (H))
Challenging, yet enjoyable
It represents an enjoyable, yet challenging learning curve that will culminate in the ability to fly your family and friends in a helicopter safely. The course involves a significant amount of classroom work, 50 hours of flight time and 7 theoretical examinations. To obtain a PPL(H) license you must be at least 17 years of age and be medically able to pass a Class 1 medical. Description of our PPL(H)
A PPL(H) qualifies a pilot to fly without remuneration. A Helicopter Private Pilot License gives the holder the privileges necessary to fly a helicopter recreationally or build time towards a Commercial Pilot License Helicopter (CPL(H)). It represents an enjoyable, yet challenging learning curve that will culminate in the ability to fly your family and friends in a helicopter safely. The South African minimum requirements for PPL(H) training
•16 years of age, to go solo. •17 years of age, to obtain your PPL. •Fluent in English (Speak, read, write, and understand) •Restricted Radio Course •A valid Class I or II Aviation Medical. oWe will assist you with a list of the Aviation doctors for your Aviation Medical appointment, if required.
Ground School Subjects: approx. 40hours

Our Preferred Helicopters for your PPL(H) Training
A Robinson R44 helicopter is our primary training machine. This machine is an excellent platform for building a thorough understanding of helicopter flight. As a student pilot, we can train you on one of our school machines or your own helicopter. You will also have access to our unique world-class Bell 222 Flight Simulator, and our instructors are highly skilled on most piston and turbine engines.
Pass Requirements for your Private Pilot License Helicopter (PPL(H))
Pass the total of 8 examinations.
Flight Hours
Minimum 50 hours flying time, of which 5 can be completed in our B222 FNPT-II simulator.
